What's Next

Long before this response was complete the Project Team started to ask,

  • What’s Next?
  • How do we carry this momentum forward?

Broadband Wireless Community Network

Our team will continue to work for highly accessible broadband wireless networks. A secure, future-proofed (IPv6) seamless user experience is close to the heart of our very experienced wireless engineering team.

Our Engineering Lead, Walter Orell, has direct experience with Google WiFi for Mountain View. Our team also has strong relationships with numerous early community wireless networks, including Portland’s PersonalTelco, Seattle Wireless, and NoVAWireless (Northern Virginia and DC). We understand the level of service and integration required to achieve high adoption rates by average (i.e., non-technical) citizens.

Community Mentoring

We are examining how to best utilize our experienced pool of IT volunteers to mentor key segments of the community. Our team can organize opportunities for residents and especially students interested in using Google technologies to develop their capabilities and take full advantage of the fast evolving online world.

Tele-Health Application

Our TeleHealth application is not yet developed to the point where we are capable of presenting it. Tele-health is already a critical infrastructure for delivering services statewide. However, our team wants to go beyond a simple amplification of current capabilities, and propose the kind of transformational application that can only be enabled with the availability of Google-scale service.

The Anchorage Team looks forward to working with Google to bring, in your words,
“significant benefits to residents and develop useful proofs-of-concept that can have a broader impact.”

Thank you for the opportunity to partner with Google for our community.
